Come play Fantasy Sports Math League with us! Need some coaching on how to use math to build a championship-caliber team? We got you! Here are our favorite FSML coaches’ strategy advice to build math skills and sharpen strategic thinking.
💖 Dream Team: Select as many of your favorite players as possible.
Coach Bianchi: “Saquon Barkley is my favorite player so I pick him first to make sure I have him, even though he is high cost.”
💰 Balance Your Budget: Calculate the average price you can spend on each player and select players at or near that value.
Coach Wendi: “In FSML, we have $1,000 to spend to draft up to 23 players so that is about $43 per spot. Since I know I want a couple players that cost more than that, I aim for 20 players at $40, giving me an extra $200 for 2-3 premium players.”
$1,000 ÷ 23 players = $43.48 per player
🏡 Go Big or Go Home: Select a couple of the best players in the NFL, no matter what their value is.
Coach Val: “I look at the Average Draft Position and I draft the top three wide receivers and running backs since they are the players that will earn me the most points for my fantasy team. This year, I drafted running backs Bijan Robinson, Saquon Barkley, Jahmyr Gibbs, and wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, and Puka Nacua.”
$1000 – $85 – $86 – $87 – $86 – $84 – $83 = $489 for my remaining players
💵 Bang For Your Buck: Select players who are pretty good and are expected to play well this season, but they aren’t the top ranked players, so they have a lower cost value.
Coach Cope: “Evan Engram is a Tight End that had a solid performance last year. I expect him to have a good draft value because his cost is lowest of the top 10 ranked Tight Ends. That means he is a great value and could end up being a big scoring part of my team. Engram costs $25 but performs like a $65 TE!”
🤑 Spend Your Money! It doesn’t do you any good to not spend your entire budget, so spend every dollar you can!
Coach Kalin: “I pick the players I want and then see how much money I have left. Then I look at the list of players by ADP rank and draft the highest ranked players that I can afford.”
